The first week of November is almost over already. We've spent the week in our room finishing up with unit 1 in our math program, Bridges.

Now we'll start working with geometric transformations (slides, flips, and turns) and with inches, feet, and yards. If you get a chance have your kids measure items at home.

In November we also study the steps in a scientific investigation. There are about 10 important vocabulary words and 6 steps that we'll become familiar with. The kids will set up their own scientific question and a way to answer it. We'll use hydroponically grown bean sprouts as a source of the question.

The fourth grade classes are entering a competition with each other to see which of the three homerooms can earn the most AR points by the Thanksgiving Break. Monitoring 30 minutes of readng at home will help our kids win the challenge and grow in their reading ability. Thanks, Mrs. Woodley
